Download

Install Fyxor in about two minutes.

Fyxor isn't in the Chrome Web Store yet, so you add it by hand. It sounds technical. It isn't — you download one file, unzip it, and point Chrome at the folder. Follow the six steps below in order and you're done.

Fyxor for Chrome

Version 0.1.2 · 2.9 MB · Chrome & Edge

Download .zip

Works on Windows, macOS and Linux, in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. It does not work in Safari or Firefox.

Step by step

  1. 1

Unzip the file you just downloaded

Find it in your Downloads folder. On Windows, right-click it and choose Extract All…, then Extract. On macOS, just double-click it.

You now have a folder called fyxor-extension-0.1.2. Open it and check you can see a file named manifest.json inside. If you only see another folder, go one level deeper — that inner folder is the one you want.

Keep this folder. Move it somewhere permanent — Documents, say — and don't delete or rename it afterwards. Chrome reads the extension from this folder every time it starts, so if the folder disappears, Fyxor disappears with it.

  2. 2

    Open Chrome's extensions page

Click the address bar at the top of Chrome — where you'd normally type a web address — and type:

    chrome://extensions

Then press Enter. (In Microsoft Edge the address is edge://extensions instead.) You can't reach this page by clicking a link — it has to be typed.

  3. 3

    Switch on Developer mode

Look at the top-right corner of that page for a small switch labelled Developer mode. Click it so it turns green.

Three new buttons appear just below. That's the only thing this switch does here, and you can turn it off again later without removing Fyxor.

  4. 4

Click “Load unpacked” and pick the folder

Click Load unpacked (the first of the three new buttons). A file picker opens.

Select the fyxor-extension-0.1.2 folder from step 1 — the one with manifest.json in it — and confirm. Select the folder itself; don't open it and select a file inside it.

    Check that it installed

A card titled Fyxor appears on the page, with version 0.1.2 and its switch turned on. That's it installed.

    Pin Fyxor to your toolbar

Click the puzzle-piece icon to the right of Chrome's address bar, find Fyxor in the list, and click the pin next to it. Its icon now stays visible in the toolbar.

Click that icon to open Fyxor, create your account, and upload your CV once. After that, open any job on LinkedIn — or highlight a job description on any site, right-click, and send it to Fyxor.

If something went wrong

“Manifest file is missing or unreadable”

You picked the wrong folder. Go back and choose the folder that has manifest.json sitting directly inside it — often one level deeper than the folder the unzipper created.

Fyxor vanished after I restarted the computer

The folder was moved, renamed or deleted — or it was still inside your Downloads and got cleared out. Unzip the file again somewhere permanent and repeat steps 2–4.

There's no “Load unpacked” button

Developer mode is still off (step 3), or you're on the wrong page. The address has to be exactly chrome://extensions.

It says “Offline” or tailoring fails

Fyxor talks to api.fyxor.eu. Check your internet connection first, then try again in a minute. If it keeps failing, email us — the server may be down.

Nothing happens on LinkedIn

Reload the LinkedIn tab after installing. Extensions only attach to pages that were loaded after they were installed.

Chrome warns me about extensions in developer mode

That warning is normal for any extension installed this way and not a sign of a problem. You can dismiss it. It goes away once Fyxor is in the Chrome Web Store.
